I had never heard of lisianthus until I began growing flowers on a large scale, but these flowers quickly earned their place in my top favourites. Some varieties resemble a hybrid tea rose, but to me, this apricot variety with all its ruffles is the showstopper of them all. I start lisianthus seeds in January and baby them indoors for months, until they’re ready to get planted out in May. All that work is more than worth it when I’m rewarded in August with armloads of stems, each loaded with multiple blooms. This really is one single stem, organically-grown and absolutely stunning.
