One of the delights of flower farming is to grow varieties that can’t be easily shipped, which makes them truly seasonal and local. I love hearing florists exclaim over perfect fragile blooms they can’t get elsewhere, like the bells of these long-stemmed foxgloves and the delicate clouds of this white astilbe. And, the scent! It has been a privilege working with seasonally-minded designers who are willing to share the risk and rewards of local, field-grown blooms. Their creations exude a magic that far surpasses a store-bought stock bouquet, and it is privilege to grow these flowers for them.
